Still waiting on P.J. Brown' call to Steve Kerr, the Suns are currently holding auditions, or simply looking around, for that missing big man off the bench. According the the Republic the Suns are evaluating Michael Ruffin, Vitaly Potapenko, Brian Skinner and Elton Brown among others.
Elton Brown (a 6-9 forward) has the best name and possibly the most upside, coming off a nice D-League season (13.3 ppg and 10.5 rpg) has just signed with the Lakers yesterday.
I am not much a fan of Potapenko but he could be the best of the remaining contenders. He's a much more complete player then Ruffin, as he can shoot and play some defense.
Since the Suns are sitting on the Luxury Tax threshold, any signing will mean they'll basically have to pay double the player's salary, I am afraid Steve Kerr could answer P.J.'s call with a "Thanks, we're not interested anymore. Sorry man, good luck in Miami".
One final note. Would you really have traded Marion for Kirilenko? Well, me neither.
The always "up to date" Paul Coro reported that the trade rumor was more than fantasy basketball talk.
I have had a chance to watch AK 47 play at the European Championship last week, actually leading Russia to an impressive upset of Spain (playing at home, by the way) and he has lots of talent and can do a lot of things on the court. He's younger than Marion but other than that he's a worse offensive player and a worse defender. Do I need to say more?
Whatever...strange things could happen on Planet Orange
Go Suns !
